GMBINDY,
To clarify, you're in the List view in Finder and see the Comments option when you try to add it to the columns, but it's grayed out. Is that right? Are any other options grayed out, or only Comments?
We recommend testing this by creating a new administrator account to see if you can replicate the behavior there, which will tell you if the issue is system-wide or user-specific: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Then sign in and try sorting in the new user. Let us know the results, and have a good one.
Hey GMBINDY,
We'd like to look into the issue that you're experiencing with organizing in Finder.
Can you explain a little more about where you are seeing the shadowed section that you can't select? Are you able to view the comments of individual files? Are all files affected?
Keep us updated.
I have a large database of music which I had as an iTunes library. Now I can't find it. I organized them by a code in the comments column. Now, when I try to do that in finder, the column is not available for sorting. I can still see it when I use NetInfo. so the information is there but I cannot access it.
