Photos and Iphoto

It seems I have Iphoto as Iphot Events and Photo albums.

When Photos came into existence I started adding Albums in iPhoto under events - doubling up.

Do I need Iphoto any more and if I delete it in Finder Pictures - will it delete my same photos in Photos Album?

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 11.6
