My iMac screen is stretched so I cannot access Apple icon or system preferences to fix it

My iMac screen is stretched. The only way to fix it is to go to System Preferences, then Display, then Scaled. But my screen is so stretched it covers the Apple icon so I cannot get into System Preferences. How do I fix this?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.14

In the Finder, press the Shift, Command, and A keys, either select System Preferences or type the first two letters of its name, and then double-click it or use the Command and O keys.
