I’m having trouble with Universal Control. While in the previous version (the AI removed my last post for saying the B word) everything worked OK. After updates (ipad15.5/macos12.4) it no longer works with my external monitor connected (it does work when external monitor is disconnected).
It can find my iPad but it wont let the cursor move between the laptop and iPad nor iPad and laptop.
Anyone know how to fix?

Verify your hardware is compatible —
Universal Control: Use a single keyboard and mouse between Mac and iPad - Apple Support
Verify Mac and iPad both are on the same wi-fi, both have blue tooth on—
and
Each device must be signed in with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication.
System Preferences, click Apple icon in upper left:
>System Preferences>Displays>Universal Control> Check first two boxes
—Allow your cursor and keyboard to move between my nearby Mac or iPad
—Push through the edge of a display to connect to a nearby Mac or iPad
reboot if necessary …

The issue isn't that Universal Control isn't working at all. It works with just a MacBook Pro and iPad. I have also found it works when using an external monitor if the laptop is the main display and the external monitor is the extended display.
In 12.3 it worked with the monitor as the main display.
Here's an image of the displays when the monitor is set to main monitor and the laptop set to extended display.
In ipad15.4/macos12.3 this set up worked fine for Universal Control. After the updates it no longer works in this configuration.
Note: I cannot drag the ipad image to its desired position.
