help updating iwatch3

i have iphone 6 plus, today i upgraded to latest IOS 12.5.5 my Iwatch3 stopped and need update, when i try to update i get : you first need to update the software on your iphone. i am stuck there. please help

To update and pair your watch,you need an iphone 6s or higher.
