help updating iwatch3

i have iphone 6 plus, today i upgraded to latest IOS 12.5.5 my Iwatch3 stopped and need update, when i try to update i get : you first need to update the software on your iphone. i am stuck there. please help

What is the latest software update for the iwatch 5? I updated my iphone 7, but can't get my iwatch 5 to update. Wondering if there was no update there. I have restarted both, hooked in to my wifi and bluetooth, but when I go to the watch app to start update, it has me check that my iphone 7 has been updated, and ends there. To update and pair your watch,you need an iphone 6s or higher.
