Apple Music crashes when searching for certain words

On Monterey 12.4, Apple Music crashes when searching my library for certain words: e.g. when searching for "night," as soon as I type "ni," Apple Music shows a beach ball for a 20 seconds and then the crash dialog will appear asking if I want to send information to Apple. It also crashes when searching for "come" as soon as I type "com." Other words like "vision" search successfully. There are no problems when searching these terms or other in Apple Music or iTunes Store. I've restarted the app, restarted my Macbook, reset the cache, and logged in and out with my Apple ID.

Hello Mikulify,

We understand that you're running into issues with the Music app on your Mac. We wanted to clarify, in the Music app, when searching your Music Library, the app crashes but when searching for a song (not in your library) it doesn't happen. Do we have that right?

Have you tried the suggested actions provided in the article below to address this issue? You'll want to pursue steps 1-4 if you haven't done so yet and let us know the results.

If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Best regards.

Thanks for getting back to us here in Communities.

Some Apple apps can't be deleted. If there's an issue where deleting these apps would resolve the issue, then we would need to have macOS reinstalled. Before moving to this step, let's see if the same thing occurs in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.

Should also run First Aid from the link above to see if that helps.

Keep us updated.

Cheers!
