The editing functions on a mac when a screenshot is taken make zero sense. In fact, they don't actually seem to provide any functionality whatsoever other than creating straight or wavy lines with a variable width. HOW DO YOU USE THESE?

I've already asked the question. Ctrl+shift+4 takes a snapshot of whatever it is that you're working on - and then it opens up in a window (that can't be moved by the way) with several editing functions that do not have any common sense as far as functionality or usability. I cannot find ANYTHING online authored by anyone who can explain just exactly how to use these tools. I feel it is a great disservice having no information that supports the use of these basic tools.

If you don't want to see this window, you don't HAVE to!

1) It will only show if you click the thumbnail; wait a few seconds and it goes away, or:

2) Turn off "Show Floating Thumbnail" and the screenshot is saved silently, and IMMEDIATELY, to your Desktop (or the location of your choice)

Just press Command-Shift-5, click on Options and make the changes to suit your preferred workflow

(by the way, that interface you dislike can be very useful... I often take screenshots to help people in the forum; circling an item, underlining or adding some helping text are all possible)
