Connecting Firewire cable to new Power. Book pro

I've got an external storage device that has ports for USB 3 and Firewire 800 cables. I use the Firewire one to connect to my iMac and could also use it for our old PowerBook. But we got a new PowerBook that only has USB C connections. I think these also go by other names. The question I have is: Can I get an adapter or a cable that will allow the new computer to connect to my storage device? Please help, it's all very confusing for this old guy.

Well, I still don't see how that adapter gets me there. But... In pondering what you said, I thought that it might be useful to see if I had anything with a USB 3.0 connector on it. And lo and behold, I have a USB 3.0 male plug to USB cable. And I already have a USB C to USB adapter so that we can connect our DVD player to the new laptop. So I have a solution. Thanks!
