Final Cut Pro X Stabilizer Tool Issues

I have used FCPX for years now. A few months ago, some changes were made to it's Stabilizer Tool and it has been absolutely horrible. Seems like Landscape footage works alright, however Portrait (Vertical) footage it does not work at all, and seems to make it worse if anything. Am I missing something, or is this something we are waiting on an update for? I am very disappointed as I have having to resort to Stabilizer Plugins that are not quite the look I am hoping for... but at least it is making things steady.

Let me know if anyone has the same issue, and knows a work around/fix.

No, I shoot reels for brands. So I shoot Vertical. My timeline is in Vertical 1080p as well as it should be, however when I try to Stabilize Vertical 4K footage, it only makes things worse, not better. Is this just a bug issue that’ll be handled on later updates? Or am I doing something wrong. It doesn’t stabilize anything, it just makes the small movements into larger movements

I couldn't tell you if it's a bug issue. In general, I don't use "automatic" stabilizers. I tend to use manual stabilizers and motion trackers.

Your problem may be due to a number of things. Does scaling the original 4K up a little in the 1920(?) vertical help at all. Does it make a difference which Stabilizer you use? (Automatic/InertiaCam/SmoothCam).
