AirPods 2 constant clicking noise

I have had this issue for about a week now. I had a lot of earwax on my AirPods, so I used a toothpick and a little Isopropyl alchohol to clean them. They were good for the rest of that day, but when I used them the next day, the left one made a rapid clicking noise which varied in volume. The weird thing was that it stopped when audio was playing, or when media was playing with no sound on. But as spn as there wasn’t anything playing it started again. This was okay at first, but after a while it was pretty deafening. I noticed that it wasn’t from being connected to my Iphone, but rather the AirPod just being on. Because when I opened the lid of the charging case, the constant clicking noise appeared. And when I closed the lid slowly til I reached a point where the AirPods were turned off, but there still was a little gap on the lid for the sound to come through, the noise vanished.

Is there any sollution to this?

This may be a fault om my part, but I could only find sollutions to simmilar problems with the Airpods pro. So I had to ask.
