iphone plugged into usb shows up in itunes but not fnder

i plug iphone SE 2020 into my macbook air mid-2012 so i can quickly load my phone's videos and photos onto my mac, and when i open itunes it shows up, and when it asks m to grant the permissions, trust, etc i do so.

but i need to see it in finder, beacuse itunes does music etc not photos etc.

i CAN airdrop from phone to finder no problem.

i have tried unchecking & rechecking finder's prefs "CDS, DVDs, ipods".

what else can i try to get phone to appear in finder sidebar?

If your Mac still has a version of macOS with iTunes, then you won't see the device in Finder. Nothing you ca do to make it show up in Finder in that case.
