iphone plugged into usb shows up in itunes but not fnder

i plug iphone SE 2020 into my macbook air mid-2012 so i can quickly load my phone's videos and photos onto my mac, and when i open itunes it shows up, and when it asks m to grant the permissions, trust, etc i do so.

but i need to see it in finder, beacuse itunes does music etc not photos etc.

i CAN airdrop from phone to finder no problem.

i have tried unchecking & rechecking finder's prefs "CDS, DVDs, ipods".

what else can i try to get phone to appear in finder sidebar?

thanks!

iPhone SE, iOS 15

  1. If your Mac still has a version of macOS with iTunes, then you won't see the device in Finder. Nothing you ca do to make it show up in Finder in that case.
  2. iTunes can also transfer photos and videos, not just music. Link-> Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support
