“Password is required to enable Touch ID.” Is the message I get when starting up my MacBook Pro. Can this be turned off?
Im asking as I’m having some issues with my keyboard so I need to use an external keyboard at the moment, however, the external keyboard connects via Bluetooth which doesn’t work until the password is entered after start up.
No.
There are a few caveats regarding TouchID — and will not be accepted by macOS:
• If you restarted your Mac, or if you're not logged into your user account.
• If you have not unlocked your Mac for 48 hours.
• If you are trying to unlock Security & Privacy
• If you are trying to unlock Users & Groups Preferences (when FileVault is on)
• If 5 wrong fingerprint attempts
