How to create a new iCloud email address without creating a new apple account?

Hi, I'm in endless loop here... for various reasons, I'm trying to change my son's apple ID's email address to a new one (e.g. from email1@icloud.com to email2@iclould.com).

At the "appleid.apple.com" zone, I'm asked to enter his new, replacement email (email2@iclould.com) and wait for an approval by mail. Problem is, I don't hold email2@icloud.com yet, and I can't figure out where to obtain it from apple. the only options I see to get an iCloud address, is to open a new apple account, which I don't need and will just get things even more complicated. Basically they force me to use a third party (hence Gmail) address as my only options, or do I miss something? thanks!!!

Create an alias address. This will be attached to the existing Apple ID. See Add and manage email aliases for iCloud Mail on iCloud.com

Sign out Apple ID say example1@icloud.com from Mac system preferences and click on create a new Apple ID enter the Apple ID address say example2@icloud.com with a different password , in the upcoming steps you have to enter rest of credentials for primary Apple ID account like date of birth , answers for three respective questions .

Note : your new Apple ID will be connected to primary account , however no new account is created , make sure the rescue mail address and password About your Apple ID email addresses - Apple Support should be totally different than new Apple ID address or your primary Apple ID address .
