Lost one airpod in its case

i have one airpod (now out of charge) I’ve lost the other one which is in the case somewhere. The find my airpod shows me the one I have , how do I make it find the second one which is in the case? (I’ve read you can force the map to update for second pod by putting the first one away in case - which obviously I don’t have as it’s missing with the other one inside it) thanks

Unfortunately, there's no way to 'change' which AirPod is being tracked. From this Apple article (which you read)-

"If your AirPods are separated from each other, you see only one location at a time on the map. Find the one that you see on the map, put it back in its case, then refresh the map to locate the other one."

You can, however, play a sound for the missing AirPod if you have an idea where it is.
