Closed captioning used to work but now it doesn't. When I try to turn on closed captioning in Apple TV, Siri says, "I'm having trouble getting the available languages." Closed captioning is turned on on my Samsung TV. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get captioning back again? Thank you.

Typically I use Siri to turn captioning on and off. So, when I tell Siri to turn on closed captioning, that's when I get the message. You're right though, it doesn't happen when I stream my movies and TV shows that I've bought from Apple. Then the closed captioning works just fine. So, it appears that this is a problem with DirecTV instead of the Apple TV. I'll contact them. Thanks for helping me sort that out.
If it only happens in the DirecTV app, then please contact DirectTV/AT&T Support for assistance.
If it also happens in other apps (e.g. Apple’s own TV app) then the issue may be different. Then contact Apple Support.
I’m a bit confused about the Siri part. Why would Siri respond with anything?
Hi. Thanks for your response. It wasn't in an app. It was Directv streaming through apple tv. I've always been able to have captions on anything I've watched on Directv stream. Suddenly it just disappeared even though captioning is turned on in Apple tv.
I guess I should amend what I just wrote. Of course, Directv is an app on Apple tv. The Directv has captioning turned on and apple tv has captioning turned on but no captioning. Just Siri saying, "I'm having trouble getting the available languages."
Not all content may have closed captions.
For what content did this happen? And in which app?
