Appletv 4k home sharing app do not read 4k video from mac

I have the last apple TV 4k, and use home sharing from Imac 27(last os) to watch my photo and video on my tv in 4k with apple tv. (I do not use airplay because it is not in 4k)

On mac i have also selected « share video option ».

it work well with photo and h264 video, but h265 4k video taken is not visible.

It is completely abnormal that last apple tv 4k do not allow to read 4k video(even taken with iphone)

Is apple working to fix this bug?

video in photo app in the mac is directly imported from iphone 7 (30 ips) or 13 (60 ips) with usb cable

this is raw video (Hevc/h265) without editing and they work well on the mac

i’m talking about the computer app « orange icon »from appletv in order to display content from the mac

i have the same issue as here

i do not understand why i should duplicate manually video inside TV app on Mac
  • One road leads to the wanted solution, the other does not.
  • No duplication is needed, as the TV app can be configured to link to files without copying. Uncheck “Copy files to Media folder when adding to Library”

If you wish for Apple to change the current functionality, then give them feedback. Feedback - Apple TV - Apple

Imac 27 pouce (last monteray up to date) and apple TV 4K(new model) with 15.5.1

My video and photo are managed in the Photos App Library , like most of apple users.

There is a mix of photo from Canon and iphone picture/video.

In the « computer App » media sharing on Apple TV, video from iphone is not visible, but canon video are ok!

Everything is managed in Photo on mac, i do not understand why i should duplicate manually video inside TV app on Mac, it doesn’t resolve the bug with only video took by my iphone in the apple TV computer App.

on the capture below, we can choose the Libray we want to share and also select if video from library is shared

There road to use « computer app » on appleTV in order to watch my photo Library is crystal clear, because it is well explained by apple website.

It works perfectly for all photo and all video EXCEPT FOR video taken with an iphone, so there is a non logical block on the main road in fact…

Your explanation using App Tv on mac seems to be pure speculation, not clear/not applicable/not documented, if you a link to a documention, it should be nice.

About your question of the option « include video » i used, see below a screenshot from internet

Ps: i’m also a +50k$ apple shareholder and not a rabbit of 6 weeks, so my goal is to establish a clear diagnostic and solve the problem

Apple TV 4K will do Home Sharing of home video in 4K HDR (H.265 HEVC), as shot on iPhone, just fine (just tried it). Verify that you keep the source frame rate reasonable (60 fps or less).

If the frame rate of your video files is fine, then possibly the video has been re-encoded with settings details that are not compatible with Home Sharing (not all H.265 is the same).

H.265 is the same as HEVC.
