My Passport - Simply drag and drop files

Hi I have this My Passport external drive that I want to drop files on.

When I connect it to my mac and try to drag and drop files on it I cant.

It wants to install this thing WD discovery, but I dont need that I dont want to backup with time machine I simply want to drag and drop files in it.


How can I do that please?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.3

I personally don't like WD bus-powered external drives. Or Toshiba. They use a proprietary board from the drive to USB, so if anything fails (most likely the USB), it's pretty much impossible to recover. It might be possible to repair a damaged USB connector. Granted I have a few myself, but I wouldn't buy one in the future.


At least with separate enclosure/drive combos it's possible to put the drive in a working enclosure. And most Seagate drives I've seen use bare drives that can be taken out if necessary.
