Macbook Air M2 HDR/HDR10/Dolby Vision support

Hi

I've seen on the Apple site that the M2 MacBook Air supports HDR with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG for video playback - it's listed on the tech specs link - MacBook Air with M2 chip - Tech Specs - Apple (CA)

However, none of the brief hands on reviews from the announcement day mentioned that and it wasn't mentioned by Apple either. Some reviews said if you want HDR look to the MacBook Pro. I suspect more in depth reviews will be coming once people get their hands on it to fully test.

I get that the air has 500 nits vs the pro's 1000/1600 nits for HDR but the Apple site does say it supports HDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision

I guess my question is - what would you make of that - Should I assume the M2 MBA can play Dolby and HDR content from Netflix? If I take the tech specs at it's word - it would appear so but concerned no mention of that was made during the announcement.

Thanks

Dean

I wasn’t trying to imply Apple would be dishonest about specs - however most articles I’ve seen regarding HDR say you need 1000 nits or more - clearly that’s beyond the 500 nits of the MBA. It’s also odd that if it did support HDR why Apple would of not of highlighted that during the keynote.

Please don’t read anything more into my request for a clarification as anything else but thank you.
