iphone... songs greyed out & message "This song is not currently available in your country or region"

I have a MASSIVE music collection from over the years (mainly imported from my music collection), but over the past 2-3 years or so I have been beyond frustrated........

I can play any song I sync on my ipad, and on my watch, but for some reason.. when I sync my entire library (and now even just 3/4 of my library) I begin to see this issue more and more. I have tried resyncing, I have tried resetting the warning dialogue in itunes, and have even reset my phone... The issue is resolved, but only for a short time. In the beginning only a few select songs might be greyed out, but as I go and look an album I might want to play as soon as I open it random songs become greyed out.

This is beyond frustrating! Is there an actual soloution at this point? Has Apple even admitted there is an issue?

Please let me know if you have had any luck

Hi there jonjk85,

If your songs are grayed out on your iPhone, there are some steps you can try:

If all or most of your music is grayed out
Sync Library might be turned off or unable to connect to the internet on one of your devices. Check the following:
- If your music library is stored on a computer, make sure that Sync Library is turned on. Then check that Sync Library is turned on for all of your other devices. Learn how to turn on Sync Library on all of your devices.
- Make sure that all of your devices are connected to the internet.

If the issue persists, follow the remaining suggestions here: If your songs are grayed out

Take care.

Thank you, and sorry for the late reply.

This did the trick, but only if my phone has internet connection (for random songs that have a physical copy in itunes).....

I have noticed songs that have been physical on the device are now streamable only at times. My entire library is present though. I am going on vacation next week (and will have very little access to internet, and just simply want the physical copy of my itunes library to transfer to my phone and work without so many issues.. I remember the good old days when you just hit sync library and didn't have to worry about jumping through hoops.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wish that was the case. It would make this all much more simple. I have a massive library from cds over the years. I basically just want to sync my physical library of non apple purchased music that’s in itunes to my phone and have the exact physical copy on my iphone. I don’t need things stored in the cloud or want to worry about apple music. I just want my music with me everywhere (wifi, cell service or not)

We appreciate you clarifying this for us, jonjk85,

You can sync your iPhone with iTunes so that you can access the music you've copied from CD's. Keep in mind, if you're an Apple Music subscriber, some syncing features may be disabled. You can learn more about how to sync with iTunes here: Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support

Kind regards.
