I am manually deleting duplicates in my Photos Library ( currently 74GB) but I noticed I have 120GB in my iPhoto Library - can I just delete it? Will that affect my Photos in any way?

As long as you have migrated it over to Photos, you can safely delete it. However, you might not get back as much space as you think since the iPhoto Library shares the space for the originals with the Photos Library using some OS magic called hard links.

I tried to trash the iphoto folder and ran into all sorts of trouble. I could not start photos so I had put back Iphoto folder and start photos by control click into photos to get it back.

Decided not worth to check for double pics in photo library or worry about reclaiming space by deleting iphoto - everything runs well and my pics are too valuable to play around with
