My iPad insists on using my old email as the sign in user ID

I had to change my email because the carrier was no longer providing support. I was successful on my computer but now I can't change it on my ipad which still insists on using my old email as the signin userid? Any ideas? Thanks

Perhaps you are attempting to update your AppleID account with a new primary email - this being used to identify your AppleID account:
