Google Maps disappeared from iPhone 8+ Homescreen

My iPhone 8+ recently stopped displaying the Google Maps icon. I was able to access Google Maps by going to the list of Apps in the Settings. Once I touched on Google Maps it became "recent."


It took a while to figure out how to get it back but this is what I did: (1) Swiped left from Homescreen, (2) Touched on the Search button. Google Maps appeared as a "recent" App that I used, (3) Held finger down on the Google Map icon that appeared here and one of the options displayed was "Add to Home Screen," (4) Did this and got the Google Map icon back onto the Homescreen.

Yes, if you delete the app from the Home Screen but not the phone itself, it will still be available in the App Library. See those articles for more information:
