Probably a very good question for Adobe as it is their software.
Are you using the recommended version of Lightroom for your version of macOS, and have you fully updated macOS (e.g. 11.6.7/12.4) on that MacBook Pro.

Hi,
Working storage utilizes the free space on your primary disk drive. If your primary disk drive is full or nearly so, LightRoom Classic or CC has to slow down to wait on free space to become available. As a rule of thumb I recommend keeping 100GB or 10-15% of your primary disk drive free for working storage.
