Scan-to-network-folder from HP 9025e All-in-one

I'm running Monterey OS & recently purchased new HP 9025e printer. Trying to set up all the features of the printer. I can print from iMac and scan from printer using HP Easy Scan. What I have been struggling with is to set up the printer to use its panel options to scan directly to a network folder. Regardless of whether I use // or \\ slashes in the network path, HP's configuration panel (HP Smart) will not accept it. I've tried using SMB setting from System Preferences|Sharing, smb://joes-imac/foo and also using IPv4 address in place of computer name. Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
