I am trying to reset an iPhone as we have forgotten the password and are locked out. iTunes does not recognize the phone and when I look on our iCloud account, this device is not listed. Any ideas on how I can rest it?

Two choices: Either try account recovery at iforgot.apple.com or activation lock removal with pop, but then the data will be lost due to having to erase it.
