How do I access greyed out files?

I have fairly recently purchased an HP Printer scanner, and have put some documents I have scanned into a folder on my Mac. However now I cannot access them as they are greyed out - can anyone help? I have just restarted my Mac and also updated the software today 12 July 2022. Thank you.

Do a spotlight search if necessary.... hold the Option Command keys and click your file should open in the Finder.

I may have an answer for you. Sometimes when a new OS is installed, scanning software stops working and must also be updated. You say that these are files that you have scanned and saved. First, do a new scan to determine if the scanner software still works. If not, visit the HP help site and download an updated software that works with your installed OS. That may clear up your problem. Good luck.
