Copy files to windows PC

Hi everyone,

I have a lot of files (documents, videos, pictures and audio files) saved on my iphone SE 2020 under the Files app in the "On my iphone" folder so it doesn't sync to the icloud. is there a way to copy these files to my windows PC without using the sync to icloud first? these files is around 40-50GB and is files related to a wedding I was a part of, now its time to get them off my phone onto my PC but I can't seem to even view these files from my PC.

I have tried 2 or 3 file manager apps but it still doesn't allow me to see any of the files from my PC.

Is there a way besides buying icloud space and moving everything onto the cloud and downloading it again on my PC?

TIA

Yes- you simply have to connect it to your PC with the included USB-A to Lightning cable. You will need iTunes for PC, which can be found here.

From there, you should be able to access the iPhone data from iTunes by following these instructions-

  1. Install or update to the latest version of iTunes on your PC. See the Apple Support article Update to the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Connect iPhone to your Windows PC. You can connect using USB, or if you set up Wi-Fi syncing, you can use a Wi-Fi connection.
  3. In iTunes on your Windows PC, click the iPhone button near the top left of the iTunes window. Click File Sharing, select an app in the list, then select the file you want to transfer in the list on the right. Click “Save To,” select where you want to save the file, then click Save To.

I have found a work-around, I have created a normal share on my windows PC, with my phone connected to the same wifi I used the connect to a server feature within the files app and can copy files from my phone to my PC on my device itself, although this will be slower as it copies through my wifi it will be a lot faster than uploading everything and downloading everything again.

OK, I understand. Assuming you have iTunes, you should be able to access files from a variety of apps on your iPhone, not just Photos (but the "On My iPhone" folder still won't appear).

From what I understand, this is not natively supported on PC. However, there are apps that will do the trick, such as this one - FileBrowser - Document Manager - App Store

Other than that, the only way would be to move the files through iCloud Drive (hardly feasible with 40-50 GB of data). If you have an external drive, you could save the files there, then move them to your PC.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
