How can I change file name on my Mac for a jpeg file?
I need to reduce a JPEG file name which is too long for a contest i am trying to enter. How do I do it?
Or can I do it?

Where is this jpeg exactly?
If its in the Photos app, you will need to export it and can give it any name your wish at that point.
If it's in Finder, you can click on it once, and then hit the enter key on the keyboard once to edit its file name.
Control-click on the file and choose "Rename" from the menu.
