How can I change file name on my Mac for a jpeg file?

I need to reduce a JPEG file name which is too long for a contest i am trying to enter. How do I do it?

Or can I do it?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

Mass File Renaming -- MacOS Monterey Hey I recently upgraded to Monterey and there's a slight change in the mass renaming feature I'm not super fond of but wondering if any either has a work around or if I have to put up with it until it's fixed: So because of work I mass export photos through photoshop and rename them after as a numeric sequence (01, 02, 03, etc....). But when exported out of photoshop the files are named something like "filename.ARW.jpeg" Prior versions of MacOS ignored the ".ARW" and didn't have any issues with formatting properly (eg. 01.jpeg), however with Monterey it seems to think that's the file extension and renames the files to "01.ARW.jpeg" Any potential ways around this or am I just going to have to wait for an update?

Change default name on files saved to desktop? Hi! Is there a way to change, what seems to be the default name, for files saved to the desktop? Whatever I try to name them it switches back to the name Picture1.pdf , picture1.jpg etc. I have hundreds of them and would prefer to be able to rename them already on the desktop and not just in files like "Documents".

Image files changing name from jpg to jpeg when downloading them to the mac Has anyone got a solution for this issue? Im a teacher and all my students return their html files and images to Google Classroom. When i'm downloading all the files every single webite show unlinked photo due to the jpg jpeg name change. This is very frustrating of course and i need to change this every time. Is there an option to disable name change in osx? Working with Google Classroom with Chrome and not Safari.

Where is this jpeg exactly?

If its in the Photos app, you will need to export it and can give it any name your wish at that point.

If it's in Finder, you can click on it once, and then hit the enter key on the keyboard once to edit its file name.

Control-click on the file and choose "Rename" from the menu.
