WORD docs opening too small on mac book pro

I was editing some microsoft WORD documents (version 16.16.19/License 2019) on my mac book pro and after saving then reopening them the docs are opening small, and not in the larger size I saved them in. Every doc is now only opening in a small square right justified on the desktop. I can see that others have had this problem over the years, but there does not seem to have been a decent answer from microsoft on how to correc the problem. Any ideas? Thanks

i reached out to microsoft and they were NOT helpful. but a friend just told me they heard about this fix and it worked. all i did was do this and then ALL my word docs are now opening at the size i saved them in beforehand. it is possible you suggested I hold down COMMAND 0 when you meant to say COMMAND Q? Anyway, Here is the fix:

To fix the minimized window issue try this:

1. Close all Word documents.

2. Open a blank Word document.

3. Resize the window to the preferred size.

4. Finally quit Word by using the keyboard shortcut Command + Q .

thanks. i'll try to contact microsoft. i shouldn't have to do commanad 0 everytime i need to open a doc. the problem just occurred and is happening to ALL my word docs. very tiring. here is a link to other complaints on it from a while ago. seems microsoft never really addressed it:

Fixing Bugs in MS Office:

A. Zoom to 100%:

Hold Down: [command key + 0). See if it then shows as it should.

B. Reinstall Office:

Request a New Install Key: Chat with a Microsoft Rep, requesting a new install key. Perhaps the installation is corrupt? Ask the MS Rep for an uninstaller. Use this link: Contact Us - Virtual Agent - Microsoft Support

Contact Microsoft; Provide the Answer:

If it was never addressed, then that, by all means, is another reason to contact Microsoft. They may never make a fix, unless you report it. So, contact Microsoft, requesting assistant. Report back the solution, if you come across it. Doing so will help many, for certain.

👍 Great job troubleshooting!

Using command + 0 (on a Mac), would bring the zoom to 0%. All would show as it should: By default.
