Hi Nello Lucchesi,

Thanks for clarifying further. What you are describing is currently not possible. The only option for sharing those text replacements would be sharing across devices using iCloud. You can let Apple know that you'd like this feature to be available in the future:

In case anyone else is also interested in doing this, I think this in-direct approach will work (but I haven’t tried it):

  1. The person who currently has the Text Replacements exports them (according to this support article Official Apple Supportguide/mac-help/back-up-and-share-text-replacements-on-mac-mchl2a7bd795/mac) and then emails the resulting .plist file to the person who wants them.
  2. The Person who wants them must log into a Mac, which must be connected to the same AppleID as they use on their iPhone. Confirm that the AppleID used on the Mac ( → System Preferences… → AppleID) is the same as the AppleID used on the iPhone (Settings → AppleID).
  3. On this Mac, the person who wants the Text Replacements downloads the .plist file that was emailed to them.
  4. On this Mac, the person who wants the Text Replacements imports the .plist file according to this support article: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/back-up-and-share-text-replacements-on-mac-mchl2a7bd795/mac.
  5. All the Text Replacements on this Mac, including those just imported, will automatically synchronize to every other device using the same AppleID, including the person's iPhone(s).

Hi Nello Lucchesi,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! To set up text replacements on your iOS device, check out the following guide:

Save keystrokes with text replacements on iPhone

Please also note the following from the related article for Mac that you shared, as this would be the supported method of sharing text replacements between devices:

"If you want to use your text replacements on another device (using the same Apple ID), you can use iCloud. Just set up iCloud Drive on your Mac, iOS, and iPadOS devices, and sign in everywhere using the same Apple ID. When you add a text replacement on your Mac, it appears automatically on your other devices (and vice versa)."

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.

Thank you for replying to my post.

Unfortunately, you did not address my question. Perhaps my use case was not clear.

I want to export my Text Replacements, send them to another person (with a different AppleID), and have them import these Text Replacements on iOS, thereby adding to the ones they already have.

As I indicated in my original post, there is an Apple Support article for how to export Text Replacements on macOS and how to import them, again, in macOS. It’s fine for me to export them on macOS because I have a Macintosh. Obviously, I can email the resulting .plist file to the other person.

What I don’t know how to do is for the other person to import this .plist file on their iPhone, i.e., iOS.

How can a person import Text Replacements to their iPhone directly?
