How to remove Voice Memos files on my iPhone?

Since the last iOS update (I’m running iOS 15.5) Voice Memos started to take way too much of my storage, PFB the evidence

This happens when I do not even have any single voice memo recording:

I’ve already tried deleting the app, reinstalling it, re-starting my iPhone… and it still taking up almost 40GB of storage of my phone.

Does anyone have any solution to this? @Apple, can you please help me and the many other iOS users that are having this issue too?

See “Delete a recording” here.

Note the reference to the “Recently Deleted” area, which of course you will have to purge as well.
