I've never had issues but today I had an issue with the badges in my iPad, as it showed badges in an app folder where there were no notifications in. This bothers me a lot, as I like to have a notification-free home screen. Here I decided to put two screenshots that show the problem.

P.S. It appears to be specific apps causing the problems.
Specifically, when certain apps were removed from the groups, the number of notifications disappeared accordingly.

Just chiming in! I'm getting the same error/bug. I hate badges, and always keep them off. Suddenly, today, they just started showing up on my app groups. Came here to post what OP posted.
