iPad not charging

my iPad Air 1 gen won’t charge. When the iPad is died because it doesn’t have any more one the battery it says it Charing. It only charges when it is off. I waited 9 hours and then it only had 60%. I bought a new adapter with 20w usb c but it didn’t help

The iPad Air, 1st generation is a 9-year old device and the battery is probably failing. You can use the Get Support link at the top of the page here and contact Apple Support. They can run remote diagnostics on the battery. If you have an Apple Store close by, make a Genius Bar appointment and they can test the battery there. They will explain your options.
