No sound, no microphone

Hello everyone,


I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) and the sound and microphone have stopped working. I can't even use headphones or open up the app for the Quicktime Player. No input or output devices show up in the Sound section of the System Preferences. This happened shortly after I updated to the latest updates (macOS Monterey Version 12.4) so I'm not sure if there is a correlation here.


I've already checked the basic things like...

  • Restarting it (a million times)
  • Starting it in safe mode and checking the sound
  • Creating another account and checking the sound on that account
  • Resetting the PRAM
  • Using the Terminal to manually shut off the audio
  • Put in safe mode and reinstall the latest OS
  • Done a hardware check (no problems Reference Code: ADP000)


Does anyone else have any recommendations? I doubt this is something simple but I'm not sure what else to do and trying to save money on the repair.
