Monitor only works in safe mode

So I cracked my 2015 Macbook pro screen and have a Samsung monitor hooked up to it using an hdmi cord but the monitor will only work when the MacBook is booted up in safe mode. I have tried every different resolution combination and mirroring vs second screen and messing with the monitor menu and no matter what, when booted up normally it will flash the screen on the monitor for just a second and then go black. It won’t let me do anything audio or video related and as a media artist, that’s kind of a problem. Any idea what to do?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

I would first try to reset the SMC as well as an NVRAM / PRAM reset.

but, since the monitor works in safe mode but not after a regular boot, that leads me to believe that you have something installed on your Mac that is causing the issue. so if the SMC and/or PRAM resets don't work, i'm thinking you should download and run the free version of EtreCheck so we can see if you have some software installed that is causing your issue. make sure you give "full disk access" to etrecheck. read how to use it by reading Using EtreCheck. if you need help interpreting the report, you can see how to post the report here by reading How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report. and it automatically obscures sensitive things (like serial numbers) so you don't have to worry about sharing the report here.
