Hi, I am using macbook air and recently upgraded macOS to catalina version. It was running smoothly after installing catalina. However, recently I am facing an issue. While turing on the laptop, apple logo appears but then happens nothing, the screen remains showing apple logo for the long time, till I turn it off. how can I solve this problem?

You are welcome.

Use External Devices to Get into Recovery Mode:

  • If the screen is blank, connect this to an external display (ie monitor, TV, or Projector). See if it then works. You may need an adapter for the monitor:  If you do not have an HDMI port, then use this adapter: Belkin USB-C to HDMI Adapter - Apple

Reinstall the macOS:

The macOS may be misconfigured somehow. So, reinstall the macOS. Nothing would be deleted. It's just that items that have become corrupted or deleted, would be replaced or reinstalled back to where they should be. Go Here: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support.

Important: in the future, be certain to create a backup of your Mac prior to all of this. That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, create a backup.

Thank you for the suggestion. However in my PC, command+R does not work. The computer does not go the boot mode. I have backed up all the data in time machine in an external drive. I want to re-install the macOS using the time machine, kept at the external hard drive. I plugged in the drive and while turning on pressed command+R (even tried with option+command+R and shift+option+command+R), but nothing works. My laptop is off state and I am unable to connect it with internet. I can re-install the macOS only from external device. So, how can I do it?
