Why does my Input Source jump irregularly to English?

Irregularly, on typing keys around the middle of the keyboard, usuall t, g, or h (with whatever modifiers), my Input Source changes unexpectedly to US English (the default).

This occurs whether using the build-in Mac keyboard or an external keyboard. The Input-Source switcher is set to the default (Globe).

How can I avoid this?

Thank you! Though the irregularity makes it difficult to be sure, apparently replacing ⌥-Space fixed the issue.

OK. But why should that cause keys around the middle of the keyboard to randomly switch the Input Source?

(We could also ask why the combo does not appear in the Shortcuts, and why using this reserved combo is allowed by the Preferences system without even warning that it's overriding a shortcut , but those are separate questions.)
