Instagram DM notifications not working on iPhone

Over the past month and a half I haven't been able to receive DM notifications on iPhone XS Max.

I've tried:

• logging in and out
• reinstalling the app
• making sure all notification settings both on the app and in iOS settings are on (some people wrote about turning on email support notifications from within the IG settings, but for me it was already on and tried to re-activate anyway but no luck)
• I've factory reset my device
• I even updated to iOS 16 to check if it's not a bug with apple (in some other post someone wrote that they got a new iPhone and the issue still persist).

I do get some notifications when someone comments on a post or likes a story, but the DM notifications are completely dead.

I also deleted and disabled all focus/do not disturb settings on my device, deleted all iCloud backups and data and tried reinstalling the app. I've tested a few of my other accounts and it happened with all of them, Nothing worked on my iPhone but did work on the Nexus.

I suspect that my account has been shadow banned as well for a good while and in some posts people mentioned it might be related, but honestly no idea what's going on with it, I'm missing so many crucial messages due to that issue.

For the same account when I login from my Nexus 6P all works ok, so it happens only on the iPhone.

It's weird because I'm not sure it's related to IG if it works on my android but I've reported this issue to IG but obviously no response.

Any suggestions?
