Downloading Icloud photos to photoshop

I have an Apple 13pro and I take many beautiful photos with it. However I am forced to download the icloud photos and from there it is very complicated to get them into photoshop where I do all my editing for submission to be judged in our photoclub. I have spoken to apple care, which i pay extra for and most tech support try to help me. It becomes so complicated that I never succeed. Can someone help me. When i had a Apple 8 I had no problem downloading it to photos. Apple is now forcing me to download to Icloud and for the life of me I have tried multiple times to get them to photoshop. If I cannot do this, i will be forced to see my new Apple 13 Pro and switch to an android cell phone.
