How can I setup virtual workspaces/desktops?

Hi all!

I am using my MacBook to work with my clients. I am satisfied with almost everything. The one thing I would really like to have is virtual workspaces/desktops.

What exactly do I mean? I have different tools and windows open for my clients. I would like to have virtual workspaces/desktops per client, so that I can move the tools and windows to each of those workspaces/desktops. For example, have a virtual workspace/desktop for (1) private things, (2) client A, and (3) client B.

My expected behaviour is, that when I press CMD + tab I should be able to switch only between tools and windows of the currently active workspace/desktop.

NB: I have two external screens connected to my MacBook. Therefore, the virtual workspaces/desktops should include all screens.

Is there anything I can do to get this behaviour?

Thank you

Konstantin

Yes, that does work, but there are important caveats that you should be aware of:

1) You only have a menu bar on your main display, so no longer you can have two apps on separate displays, each with its own menu bar

2) Fullscreen apps make the second display blank and not usable

FWIW, I tried to make an Automator script for switching Spaces simultaneously on multiple screens, but so far I have not succeeded.

Rudegar, thank you for this suggestion.

Work in multiple spaces on Mac - Apple Support

I've already tried this. There is an issue with that. It works all fine with only one display. With multiple displays you have to create additional spaces for each display and switch them individually. As I mentioned, I have 3 displays in total. That means, that I have to create three spaced for "private", three spaces for "client A", three spaces for "client B". If I want to switch between them, I need to go to each display in Mission Control and switch the spaces on every display separately.

I am looking for a solution where I could switch spaces on all displays in one go. For example, from "private" to "client A" on all three displays with one command.

Are there ways to do that?
