iphone email

hi this is driving me mad for some strange reason email notifications and banners stopped working after trying methods of trying to get them back nothing worked my last option was to delete the mail account then re add it all went fine notifications and banners were back now my problem now is that it will only check for new emails on the cellular ie 3 or 4 g will not fetch emails on my wi fi dont know were to go from here anny help please
