Typing X-bar in Pages - and switching keyboards - 2022 version

Short of just copy/paste (which is definitely on the list of options) -- how do you get the x-bar symbol (x, or any other letter with a straight bar on top of it, generally used to indicate the mean value in statistical calculations)?

I found this from 2019: How do I type an x-bar symbol on a Mac? - Apple Community

And this from 2016: Typing x_bar in pages - Apple Community

Summarizing into a single post (because the two referenced are somewhat long and neither explains the complete process)

1) Add the Unicode keyboard in System Preferences (Keyboard > Input Sources > Other > Unicode Hex Input)

2) You will now see a flag icon in your top bar, next to the date/time -> click on that to switch the keyboard you are using.

Obviously, this would also apply to any other country keyboard option.

The x bar is actually the result of a combining macron symbol, so in the Unicode Hex Input, you would type two separate entries in this order:

  1. option+0078 (x)
  2. option+0304 (combining macron)

Or in the Pages Equation editor:

  1. \bar{x}
