iPhone 13 camera not focusing up close (still ...)

I've resisted getting a smartphone for so long, I finally gave in this month.

I got a brand new iPhone 13, supposedly one of the better smartphones out there.

Yet, it can't focus up close on objects or text. My iPad 5 mini, the hubby's iPhone 11, and an older iPhone 6s have no problems doing so.

I've seen posts over 9 months old about this from other user and no resolution - what's it going to take to resolve an issue no other Apple product seems to have??

Depending on how close you are to an object, and the settings of your device, your camera may not focus as you'd expect. To help resolve this issue we recommend following the user guide below to improve your cameras focus.

Use iPhone camera tools to set up your shot - Apple Support

Why does a phone that is nearly 7 years older do a better job of focusing than a brand new phone?

Not the only one having this issue, so why isn't it being addressed with any seriousness? Generic tips that don't address the question asked are of no help.
