Watch charger doesn’t work in tesla

My apple watch 8.7 usb-c charger works fine with power cube and my macbook usb-c.

however, it won’t work when plugged into my new tesla m3 with its usb-c ports.

those Tesla ports work fine charging my iphone (usb-c to lightening).

any suggestions?

thanks,

Hello _BobBogardus,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

In order to fast charge your Apple Watch 7, you will need to use an 18W or higher USB-C Power Adapter or "A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) of 5W or greater"

This information is from About fast charge on Apple Watch Series 7 - Apple Support

Hi,

The Tesla USB-C ports provide 27W of power, but won't charge the Apple Watch using the Apple cable/mag charger unit. I gather "USB-C" is not actually a standard. The Tesla also won't charge current Apple iPads with a standard Apple USB-C cable. I had to purchase a "Fast Charging" cable and it now charges the iPad ("USB C Cable, Anker Powerline+ III USB C to USB C USB-IF Certified Cable, 60W Power Delivery Charging for Apple MacBook, iPad Pro 2020, iPad Air 4...").

Does Apple provide an Apple Watch 7 charger that is compatible with this other standard? If not, do you know a 3rd party that provides one? What specification is required in order for it to work?

Thanks.

Bob
