External Monitor not working

A friend of mine gave me his daughters old 13 inch Mac Pro from 2016. Long story short, the display itself is smashed and it hasn't been used in years so no one remembers the password. Connecting it to an external monitor, the external monitor goes to sleep and I can't get it to display anything.

I have tried changing ports, which there are only 2 and I tried flipping the thunderbolt cable upside down on either port and still nothing displays.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.
