Not seeing time machine backup

Ok, got new mac today, MacBook Pro 14. M1


migrating from MacBook Pro 16, 2019


i update time machine backup to external SSD this morning.

new mac see’s the drive but not the backup.

just get HD symbol and then continues to look for more sources.

I have 2 time capsules but it bombs out of those as well.

both machines on monterey 12.5


any ideas please as I can do wife transfer but this will take a day or more as there is 500 tb of data to move over.

Hold down the Option key, go to the Time Machine in the menu bar and select "Browse Other Backup Disks…".



Select the same disk and see if you can browse the previous backups.
