Computer restarting because of a problem - kernel task - every time I close the lid

Any idea what's causing this?

I had a new HD installed then this started happening.

Technically you installed a new SSD not a hard drive.

The Kernel Panic report is showing a problem with the SSD or possibly with the SSD Adapter if you are using an M.2 SSD as evidenced by the reference "nvme: "3rd party NVMe controller. Command timeout". "nvme" is a reference to the SSD. From reading these forums I have discovered that the Sintech SSD Adapter seems to be most reliable and compatible. Also keep in mind not all SSDs are compatible with all computers.

Edit: In the future you should post the Kernel Panic log using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper as that option is able to handle the extra text.
