Issues with the IPhone SE (2020) and WIFI
Any one else having issues with the IPhone SE (2020) and WIFI still ?
Long Story short : Gfast having stability issues - lots of investigation later stand alone modem + new router. Also been having issue with the IPhone SE wifi for ages (despite another SE (2016) perfectly fine)
Ran the new setup for about a month. Much better logging on the new router allowed me to see exactly what was happening before a disconnect of the modem. The same couple of mac addresses were always reauthenticating with the router just before. Doing some reading and extrapolating, I made a guess and checked out the interfaces on the IPhone SE both the MACs that caused the fails were from the 2.4G interface of the SE(2020). So turned off the 2.4G interface on the the SE (ie. forgot the network and only remembered the 5G one).
The wifi connectivity on the IPhone SE has remarkedly improved, and the hang ups have stopped. Only has been a few days and have had a few gfast stable days before but feel that I have identified the issue and that it is not just a shot in the dark fix this time.
Found out that a particular brand of routers (which use 802.11ax) has issues with some intel implementations of 2.4G wifi interfaces. This lead to me looking at all the 2.4G interface devices in the home.
Basically if you are having issues with wifi and or network stability and you own a IPhone SE (2020), with a multi band router. Make sure the router is using a separate SID for 2.4 & 5G and then have the wifi on the IPhone have just the 5G SID configured. I have other devices connected to the 2.4 G at the same time and no issues so far. Also have bluetooth running on the IPhone SE at the same time (which I know has caused some people problems) seems all fine as long as 2.4G not configured for the home network.
