G-mail account through apple mail

My e-mail acocunt is through g-mail. I use the apple mail icon to read my email on my i-pad, but I just noticed that my mail comes into both apps. Can I delete the g-mail app on my ipad and still have my mail delivered to apple mail?

Yes. The Gmail app is completely optional and is not linked to the Apple Mail app.

You can use either app or both.
