Iphone 13 pro not working anymore after charging

Hi, all

I charged my iPhone 13 pro with the normal charger and I came back to it after awhile and it was burning hot…like I could not hold it longer than 2 seconds because it would burn me. During this time the screen would flicker orange every minute or so, oddly enough my alarm went off and I could not turn it off.

So, I took it off the charger and set it aside. I went back to it several hours later and when trying to get it to work it only flickered an orange color. I tried charging it again and after 2 minutes it was hot, although not nearly as hot as it was earlier, so I unplugged it to avoid a fire.

There was nothing different in the charging routine that could have caused the issue. I suspect that there was a catastrophic failure with the battery and it fried the phone, but I am no expert. The phone never came in contact with water, never had a serious fall, and is new…bought new in February.

Has anyone had any issues like this? What was the solution? I am hesitant to get it repaired as I don’t want the issue to repeat because it is a serious fire hazard and safety issue to me and my roommates.

who can I contact to get this straightened out? Will apple replace it for me?

any help is greatly appreciated!

Start here. Apple will need to inspect your iPhone to figure out the cause.
